But I layered and bundled and off I went. It was definitely cold. My body warmed up pretty quickly, but my fingers were definitely frozen. The wire for my iPod wasn't flexible because of the temperature. I was hoping it wouldn't break.
It was hard--but I did it. Going out wasn't that bad, but about 1/3 way back, I felt it. A stitch in my side started. Then about 2/3 back my breathing was really hard, and finally I felt it in my legs. I did have to slow to a walk a couple of times on the way back--and I was certainly not going particularly fast--probably about 4-4.5 mph. Map My Run.com calculated 4.8 but I felt like it was less.
But regardless, I did it. And I'm a little exhilarated. And very much looking forward to the actual 5k next weekend. I was reading up on prep for races and got some good tips in terms of fuel, rest, stretching, etc. Let's just hope the weather holds out.
